ENPO objection to Nagaland govt clarification on Rongmei tribe recognition

As fellow Naga family the ENPO is absolutely for and in support of all Naga communities/brethren regardless from where ever they hail or are domiciled in terms of needs and difficulties, or for that matter, are even ever ready to shoulder responsibilities and extend all possible help to one another as much as we may also so need. To this matter, to put in record straight, the ENPO is absolutely for all possible moral and practical support to the Rongmei Naga brethrens in their difficulties, and is equally willing to go to any extend to defend and uphold the rights of the Rongmei Nagas for their social, political, economic rights. To supplement on the statement as above, the ENPO of the six tribes of Eastern Nagaland held a meeting of the Central Executive Committee which is the highest decision making body of the ENPO on the 4th of May, 2013, and whereby a resolution was adopted to facilitate the difficulties and aspirations of the fellow Rongmei Nagas by fully supporting them to avail ‘indigenous certificate’ in the state of Nagaland for all practical purposes. However, the house of the CEC equally resolved to oppose and object the recognition of the Rongmei as a tribal status in the state of Nagaland for all practical hurdles and difficulties, and for which the ENPO would like to make our stand clear to our Rongmei Naga brethrens that the Eastern Nagas of Nagaland state should not be misunderstood or misconceived in an otherwise manner.

Therefore, the ENPO would once and for all like to make the stand of the six tribes clear to the government of Nagaland and the department concerned, and to again equally put on record that, while we fully support the status of fellow Rongmeis in Nagaland whose ancestors were listed in 1963 E-Roll for the status of indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland state as such, and to subsequently avail ‘indigenous certificates’ only for all practical purposes and privileges thereof. The ENPO however continues to oppose the proposition of the recognition of the fellow Rongmei Nagas as schedule tribe in Nagaland state based on the resolution as above for all practical difficulties and hurdles. It may further be mentioned that, the resolution as mentioned above was adopted under the aegis of the CEC of the ENPO, which was attended by all officials of the ENPO, members of CEC, Federating Tribal Presidents and colleagues, Presidents and colleagues of all Frontal Organisations such as ENSF, ENWO, Steering Committee Members, Advisors, prominent leaders and Seniors Members.
