ENPO reaffirms ‘eastern Nagaland’ as ‘peace zone’

Dimapur, December 23 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) and the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) have asked all Naga political groups and factions in the eastern areas to cease all hostilities immediately. The ENPO has reaffirmed the eastern areas as being ‘peace zone’ as declared on December 18, 2007 while the ENSF has banned “total bloodshed” in the said areas.

The ENPO reaffirmed its December 18, 2007. “The ENPO had an emergency meeting at Tuensang on December 23, 2011 to review the situation after hearing about the firing incident at Ghukiye. The meeting was attended by ENPO official, tribal leaders, GPRN NSCN (K) GPRN NSCN (Khole – Kitovi) and NSCN GPRN (IM). In the meeting the house unanimously decided to reaffirm and declare ENPO jurisdiction as peace zone,” a note from the ENPO stated today. “Therefore whoever over rule the resolution, the ENPO will be compelled to decide its own cause of action.”

Further, the ENSF has asked all the underground factions to refrain from bloodshed within the ENPO jurisdiction and that the organization has resolved to “ban total bloodshed” within its areas as resolved on December 18 during the ‘Tuensang summit.’ The resolution was further reaffirmed on November 13, 2010 in Kiphire town.

“Therefore, the federation appeals all the factions/groups/national workers to respect the ENPO resolution within the eastern Nagaland least it hurt the sentiments of the public aspiration! Further, it is informed that the public of the eastern Nagaland would withdraw its support from all those that over-rule the ENPO resolutions,” a note from the ENSF stated today.
