
Launches indefinite agitation at Nagaland Civil Secretariat from today
Dimapur, April 20 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has advised its federating units to strictly maintain ‘peaceful democratic principles’ as it prepares to launch an indefinite agitation at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Complex, Kohima, starting April 21.
“The first phase of peaceful democratic agitation will commence on April 21, from 9:00 am onwards,” the Federation stated in a directive to its seven federating units.
They are protesting the non-inclusion of exempted Government departments and posts in the Nagaland Staff Selection Board Regulation (NSSB), 2020, which it demanded for in its 6-point Charter to the State Government.
The Federation directed its units to send a “Minimum of 150 volunteers with traditional identity from each Federation Units.” The participants shall strictly maintain peaceful democratic principles and the peaceful agitation will continue indefinitely until further communiqué from the Federation, it added.
According to the directive, the democratic agitation has been called consequent to the lapse of the 30-day ultimatum to the State Government which was served on February 24, and in furtherance of the unanimous resolution adopted at the consultative meeting held on April 8 with its seven federating units, ENSF Advisors, ENPO and ENWO.
“Further, the Federation appeal all concerned to co-operate with the proposed agitation and any unwanted consequences upon its dereliction shall be the sole responsibility of the violator,” the ENSF directive stated.
The seven federating units include the Chang Wedoshi Setsang, Khiamniungan Students’ Union, Konyak Students’ Union, Phom Students’ Conference, Tikhir Students’ Union, United Sangtam Students’ Conference and Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako.
