ENSF wants teachers’ advertisement reviewed

Dimapur, December 19 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has demanded immediate rectification of an advertisement floated on December 9 by the “department of Education” concerning teachers involving instatement, transfer or appointment to vacancies. A copy of a letter from the ENSF addressed to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland received here said the advertisement in question does not address a number of demands which the ENSF made earlier.

According to the ENSF, the advertisement ‘has not addressed” five demands the organization made earlier. For instance, the shortage of teachers in “eastern Nagaland,” due to transfer-with-post of about 1, 500-1,600 teachers ‘which was agreed in principle” on August 14 is not addressed. The teachers were to be restored under the SSA/RMSA but this finds no mention, the ENSF said.

The organization said further that district-wise distribution of posts was “not categorized” in the advertisement. This leaves the authorities to “manipulate to our disadvantage as it cannot fulfill” a government notification dated January 8, 2009, the ENSF said. The notification specified that “all the vacancies arising within the eastern Nagaland jurisdiction shall be filled up by the six inhabitant tribes of the same.”

Also, the organization said, the advertisement has not “authentically advertised the hidden vacancies” impacted by the Nagaland Retirement Act of 2009. “Is the said advertisement only for the newly-created posts under SSA/RMSA?” the ENSF queried. Further, “criteria no. 12” in the said advertisement contradicts the government’s January 9, 2009 notification, the letter said.

“Basing on the above mentioned anomalies, the federation approach the competent authorities concerned to immediately rectify and address the federation’s concerns and re-advertise the same. The federation further states that it oppose vehemently the said advertisement in its present form till ENSF’s five point charter of demands is fulfilled in totality,” the ENSF added.
