Mokokchung, April 25 (MExN): A youth organization in Mokokchung town called Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem will be celebrating its first foundation day at the Town Hall on April 30, with Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Alemtemshi Jamir as the chief guest.
The MTLT was formed last year by a group of concerned youth leaders in Mokokchung town. It has grown to become a respected youth organization in Mokokchung undertaking a lot of works for the welfare of the society. This foundation day which is scheduled to be held on April 30 is expected to be attended by well known Ao personalities.
The programme has been divided into two sessions. In the second session a panel discussion will be held on the topic ‘Mokokchung by 2025’ where a group of selected panellists will take part. The panellist include – Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner Alemtemshi Jamir; Commissioner & Secretary (Works& Housing) Temjen Toy, Dr Toshimenla Jamir of Nagaland University, medical professional Dr Bernard, Lecturer of Clark Theological College Pangernungba; Editor of Tir Yimyim K Temjen, former town committee chairman MB Longkumer and entrepreneur Tsukti Longkumer.
Speaking at a press conference, MTLT’s president Imkongsanen said Mokokchung is going through a ‘bad time’ and it is the time the youths take the initiative to bring about positive changes in the social, economic and cultural fields.
Talking about the panel discussion topic ‘Mokokchung by 2025, Imkongsanen said that the topic has been carefully selected because ‘if the dateline is kept beyond 2025 then it would be too long a time and people might forget about the vision kept during the foundation day.’ So the thirteen year period has been kept so that whatever is achievable would be thoroughly pursued during this thirteen year time.
On being queried why there was no name of elected legislators in the programme, the MTLT officials said that most of the politicians who were approached had prior engagements on the April 30. However some of the legislators from among the ten elected Ao legislators would surely be attending the programme. Besides, they also informed that invitations have been sent out to all the Ao unions in different parts of the state, and it is expected that youths from Kohima and Dimapur are going to attend the foundation day.
“We cannot give out personal invitation to all the people, so we urge the Ao people, young and old, male or female, in different parts of the state, to take this press conference as an open invitation and come and participate in the foundation day, and share views and opinions during the panel discussion,” said Imkongsanen, the MTLT president.
Meanwhile, a bike rally has been organized on April 26 as a flag off programme for the Foundation Day celebration. Around 100 bikers from different colonies in Mokokchung town is expected to attend the rally. The bike rally will be formally flagged off from Imlong Place at 11 AM.
