Episcopal ordination of new Bishop of Nagaland today

Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): The Catholic Church is all set to witness the Episcopal Ordination of the Bishop-Elect Very Rev. Fr.  (Dr) James Thoppil on September 8 at Cathedral Church, Kohima at 10 am. During the Episcopal Ordination the Bishop-Elect will be consecrated and elevated to the Third Order of priesthood. From September 8 Fr. James will be Bishop of the See of Kohima.
The consecration ceremony will be officiated by the Apostolic Nuncio to India, Most Rev. Salvatore Pennachio along with two other Archbishops of Northeast India - Most Rev. Thomas Menamparampil SDB of Guwahati Archdiocese and Most Rev. Dominic Lumon of Imphal Archdiocese. The Bishops Emeritus and other Bishops and priests who would join the consecration ceremony will be from the fifteen dioceses Northeast India.
The programme will consist of two parts: one, purely the religious ceremony to be held inside the Cathedral at 10 am; and the other the felicitation programme to be held at the lawn outside the Cathedral at 12.30 pm.
According the Organising Committee, the entrance procession will begin from the Chapel outside the Cathedral at 9.50 am so as to reach the main altar of the Cathedral at 10.00 a.m. The ceremony, which is officially called the Liturgy, will have Naga cultural symbols integrated into it. There will be in all four Naga Dances integrated into the programme.
The choir of the Episcopal Ordination will comprise 140 members of the Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) selected from the three parishes of Kohima – Christ King Church, St. Francis De Sales Church and Cathedral Church.
While the Catholic Church eagerly awaits the Episcopal Ordination, Fr. R. R. Graviour Augustine, Spokesperson, Diocese of Kohima requests all the people to pray for the success of the event and blessing upon the new Bishop of the Diocese.
