Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): IED DMA SSA Dimapur distributed Escort allowance to 110 school going Children with Special Needs (CWSN) on June 19 at UBRC Kuda Dimapur. A press release issued by DEO Dimapur Asono Ndang stated that selected locomotor were given Rs. 3000 as escort fee for a period of 6 months. The allowance covered children from Medziphema, Doyapur, Niuland, Kushiabil and Urban blocks.
During the occasion, Asono Ndang, DEO Dimapur encouraged the children and their parents to give importance to education as it will become handy for their later years. She also said that their disability should not be a reason to discontinue in school as Escort allowance is to encourage regular attendance as locomotor children in school.
District IED Coordinator, Imsuinla said that allowance should be utilized with proper guidance by parents. She stated that IED SSA collects data of CWSN every year with the help of IE volunteer, resources teachers, head of schools both government and private and NGOs. The purpose is to identify and update the data so as to give appropriate facility to benefit the children depending upon their disability. She further said that among the different categories of disability, some get their teachers trained others get home tuition, aids and appliances while locomotor children get escort allowance. Parental counseling is being given to all parents of CWSN once a year to make the parents aware of facilities available to CWSN and to give awareness on rights of their children.
