Pfutsero, February 6 (MExN): An awareness programme and health camp was organised by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and the Department of Labour, Government of Nagaland, at Pfutsero Community Health Centre (CHC) in Phek district on February 6 for employers and workers from the organised sector.
The programme aimed to create awareness among employers and employees on social security benefits available to workers under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme.

Zeremo Kikon, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Labour Department, Government of Nagaland, and Chuba Lemba, Social Security Officer, ESIC, addressed the gathering and briefed participants on the medical, cash and other benefits available under the ESI Scheme for workers and their dependent family members. The roles and responsibilities of employers under the scheme were also explained.
The officials informed that in newly implemented or unserved areas, or in areas lacking sufficient ESI or ESIC dispensaries or other medical arrangements, the delivery of primary healthcare to insured persons and their families through Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres of the respective State Governments has been initiated, as approved by the Corporation and the Ministry.

They stated that, accordingly, 12 CHCs and PHCs have been identified in the first phase for delivery of primary care to ESIC beneficiaries in the newly implemented districts of Nagaland.
An interactive session was held to address queries and provide guidance on registration, compliance and related matters to employers and employees.
A free health check-up camp led by Dr V Kezo, Medical Officer, CHC Pfutsero, was conducted at the end of the programme.
