Mokokchung, April 21 (DIPR): District election officer & Returning Officer, Mokokchung, Lithrongla G. Chishi held a meeting with political parties, contesting candidates and Election Agent of 26-Aonglenden Assembly Constituency in connection with the Maintenance of Accounts of Election Expenditure by the candidate at D.C’s conference Hall on April 21.
Addressing the meeting DEO & RO appealed to all political parties, candidates and their agents and supporters to strictly abide by Election commission’s directives saying ‘everything is under surveillance’. Lithrongla said violation of rules and EC’s directives cannot be tolerated.
Stating that all necessary arrangements are being made including security measures for smooth conduct of the election she sought cooperation of all concerned to make the forthcoming bye-election a fair, free and peaceful election.
Expenditure Observer, Dr S. S Dhavale, while addressing the meeting said, it is mandatory for all candidates to open a Bank Account and all election expenditure be made from the Bank account and such expenditure should be maintained in cash register, Bank register and register of maintenance of day to day accounts of election expenditure.
General Observer Nandadulal Bhakat in his speech dwelt at length on Model code conduct and asked all concerned to fully acquaint with directives of the Election commission.
Even though the candidates could not attend the meeting their election agents had threadbare discussions on maintenance of election expenditure and model code of conduct.
