Excise officials dump the seized liquor worth about Rs 45 lakh on March 6 at the Excise Directorate Complex in Dimapur.
Dimapur, March 6 (MExN): Seized liquor worth about Rs 45 lakh was destroyed on March 6 at the Excise Directorate Complex in Dimapur under Section 73 of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act 1989 and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 by a duly constituted Liquor Destruction Committee.
The destroyed items comprised seizures made by three enforcement wings based in Dimapur — District Excise, Mobile Squad and the Narcotic Cell — during the period from October 2024 to January 2026.
The destroyed liquor included 11,297 assorted bottles of IMFL and 5,369 assorted bottles and cans of beer. During the same period, an amount of Rs 13 lakh was deposited as revenue realised from case compounding.
At the destruction programme, Additional Commissioner of Excise S Chanlei Angh commended the excise enforcement personnel for the seizures made.
Reports of the seized articles meant for destruction were read out by the superintendents of excise from Dimapur district, Mobile Squad and Narcotic Cell. The programme was conducted at the Excise Directorate Complex in Dimapur.
