Kohima, March 29 (MExN): The Drugs Control Officers (India) Welfare Association (DCOIWA), in coordination with the Drugs Control Administration under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, organised a one-day workshop for working Drugs Control Officers in the state.
G Koteshwar Rao attended the programme as chief guest, while L Martemjen Longkumer was the guest of honour. The session was chaired by T Zubemo Kikon, General Secretary of DCOIWA Nagaland chapter.
Keshav Kumar, former Director General of Police (Gujarat) and ex-Joint Director, CBI, delivered a session on the synergy between the Drugs & Cosmetics Act and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), focusing on legal aspects of tackling counterfeit medicines and investigation techniques.
Narendra Kumar Ahuja spoke on mastering sampling and seizure under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, while Rajender Harna addressed effective prosecution and documentation from lab to court.
The workshop saw active participation from Drugs Control Officers across Nagaland, reflecting efforts to enhance regulatory effectiveness.
In his address, Rao urged officers to engage in such programmes to strengthen enforcement and curb spurious drugs, assuring continued support for capacity building.
Lutovi Phucho, Vice-President of DCOIWA Nagaland chapter, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speakers for sharing their expertise.
