Faith and Fitness Sports Meet 2025 commences at Natha New Village

The Faith and Fitness Sports Meet 2025, organized by the Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church (ZTSBC) Youth Ministry, commenced at Natha New Village Ground on October 28. The three-day event will continue tillOctober 30 and features a range of sports and activities aimed atpromoting faith, fitness, and fellowship among the youth.

The opening ceremony was graced by Atsato V. Yeptho, Councillor ofZunheboto Town Council, as the special guest.

In his address, Yeptho challenged the youth to reflect on theirdetermination and purpose in life. He noted that while many peopletoday earn their livelihood through sports, the local youth are stilllagging behind in this area. “We have to transform our lives throughsports,” he said, urging young people to abandon bad habits and lead adisciplined life.

Expressing concern over the growing involvement of youth in drugs andalcohol, he encouraged them to make better use of time, spend qualitymoments with their families, and embrace positive values.

Quoting a biblical principle, he said, “Obey your parents and eldersit may sound simple, but its meaning is deep and challenging.” Hefurther advised the youth to maintain purity in body and spirit, liverighteously, and pray for good life partners.

Speaking on the importance of sex education, Yeptho stated that it isnow part of the educational curriculum and should not be treated as ataboo. He emphasized respect towards parents, teachers, and churchleaders, reminding the youth that good behaviour, character,discipline, and manners are vital.

“Always use the magical words ‘thank you’ and ‘sorry,’” he said. “Letus all join hands together and change our lives through sports.” Heconcluded.

Rev. InakhuSumi, Pastor ZTSBC, highlighted that sports are anintegral part of physical and spiritual well-being. “Through thisministry, we not only promote physical fitness but also share thegospel and the love of Christ with young people beyond the church.Such events help us connect, learn, and grow together,” he said,encouraging the youth to actively participate in all church-organizedactivities.

The Youth Leader of ZTSBC, Aketo K. Yeptho, informed that thethree-day sports evangelism event will feature various activitiesincluding football, volleyball, tug of war, carom, table tennis, andmarathon. A total of nine sectors are participating in the meet.

Earlier in the program, NupatoZhimo, Assistant Youth Leader chairedthe event, while the opening ceremony was performed by the SundaySchool children of Alahuto Colony. Rev. InakhuSumi offered a specialprayer for the occasion, and a special song was presented by SushokaMuru.
