Faith and service take centre stage at DoHFW’s Advent–Christmas

Kohima, December 17 (MExN): Faith, reflection and a spirit of service marked the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare’s (DoHFW) Advent–Christmas observance held at the directorate lobby on December 17.

According to press release from the department, drawing from the scipture in his Christmas message, Rev Kedo Peseyie, Pastor of City Church, Kohima highlighted the true meaning of Christmas as the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, who came into the world to save sinners. 

He called on those present to embrace Christian virtues and reflect the essence of Christmas through humility, gratitude and service to others.

Extending Christmas greetings on the occasion, Dr Mereninla Senlem, Principal Director, DoHFW, acknowledged the commercialisation of modern Christmas celebrations but stressed the importance of remembering its core values - light, peace and compassion.

She noted that small acts such as kindness, empathy and honesty can have a lasting impact and help build a positive and collaborative work environment.

Dr Senlem encouraged staff members to be “gifts” to one another by practising love, support and mutual respect, particularly during the festive season.
The department also introduced, for the first time, the Best Employee of the Year awards for 2025 in different categories. 

M Meguosonuo, UDA (Upper Division Assistant) was awarded Best Ministerial Staff while Tasi received the Best MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff ) award; and Pradip Sunchuri was honoured as Best Driver.

Officers and staff of the directorate, along with personnel from various vertical programmes, NHM, NSACS and NHPS attended the celebration, the release added.
