On attainment of 75 years of Christian ministry, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) is gearing up to celebrate its platinum jubilee from April 19 to 22 here at the NBCC Convention Centre.
Day one will be marked by inauguration of the NBCC convention Centre, to be graced by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and dedicated by Reid Trulson, Executive Director, International Ministries, USA.
NBCC president Keviyiekielie Linyu informed the press conference this evening that more than 300 delegates from outside Nagaland are expected to join in the celebration, including family members of W. Clarke, the first American missionary to Nagaland.
All denomination churches in Nagaland, Nagas from Myanmar, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur will also attend the celebration. Apart from the 7000 sitting capacity inside the convention hall, another 3000 more seats are being arranged outside the hall in addition to extension sitting arrangement at NSF Solidarity Park. The main speakers of the four day celebration include Reid Trulson, Wallace Charles Smith and Anne Graham Lotz.
Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Rung Ruengsan-ajin- vice-Moderator, Church of Christ, Thailand, Makato Tanno- General Secretary, Japan Baptist Union, Bonny Resu- Regional Secretary, Asia Pacific Region of the Baptist World Alliance and , Bonny Resu and A.K. Lama General Secretary, Council of Baptist Churches in North East India, will also share greetings at the celebration.
The celebration will also feature Children Rally, Women Rally, Photo exhibition, Worship Concert, Film Festival and Platinum Band festival featuring popular local bands including Divine Connection, UDX, Ebenezer, Alobo Naga& Band, Inside Story Band, Tali Angh & the Band and Thailand Cultural Club.
Meanwhile, the organizing committee was hopeful that despite the many problems faced by the people today, Nagas will get closer together through the church and through this celebration. It invited all citizens of Nagaland to join in the celebration and witness the greatness and faithfulness of God.
