
Monsoon- 2025 preparedness
1. Scouting of Insect Pests including Fall Army Worm (FAW)
2. Surveillance & Monitoring of Pest & Disease incidence and report to nearest Agriculture Office for necessary control measures if any
3. Keep in touch with your District & Sub-division Agriculture Officials and ATMA personnel for Weather forecast of NSDMA/IMD/ICAR for alertness and prompt action in case of any eventuality
4. Adopt Diversification of Crops / Multiple/Double Cropping in order to cope with uncertainty of Climatic factors, so that farmers are buffered against mono crop failure
Advisory Note: May to July 2025
Hill Agriculture – Jhum / Shifting cultivation:
1. Do Staggered Log Bunding across the slope to check run-off water in case of heavy rainfall
2. Survey and identify areas for gully plucking with locally available materials to check nallah formation
3. Crop lodged should be stacked or bind together in bundle
4. Short duration crops supplied by Department such as Maize, Pulses & Oilseeds canbe sown up to 1st week of June
Terrace Rice Cultivation / WRC (Pani Kheti):
1. Staggered Seeds sowing (2 weeks apart) in Nursery Bed to cope with Climate unpredictability
2. Prepare side drain around Nursery beds against Flash flood & Wash-off
3. Early field preparation for TRC/WRC and direct-seeding may be adopted to minimize labour cost
4. As far as possible, use single and young seedling for better yield
