Dimapur, November 26 (MExN): A first of its kind shop christened as ‘Favors’ for event planning and rental services in the state, besides a wide range of imported ‘thank you’ gifts was inaugurated at Veterinary Road, Burma camp, Dimapur today.
The owner of the creative venture, Akali Awomi said that her hobby has finally taken shape. She aims to cater to the needs of would be couples, and save them the trouble of going into the minute details of planning a wedding, rather than enjoying the moment. The creative services offered are designed to meet individual taste and personality type.
Though she has no formal training in the field, she is naturally gifted. She has further honed her skills through more than a decade of sheer experience, of organizing and planning weddings for her friends, family and relatives. She acknowledged the encouragement and positive response from her near and dear ones, who helped her to believe in herself and to realize her goal professionally.
She also intends to employ more creative local youth under her fold, to provide them employment opportunities, so that one is not a burden to the family. “By opening this shop, I feel that youths would be gainfully employed and the culture of ‘work and eat’ will come about, she said.
For those would be brides who intend to travel far need no more. The shop has personalised note pads, flower pots, pouches for sale and decorative items like tissue ribbons, lanterns, decorative pillars, arches, and chair cover sashes, cake trays, flower girls baskets on hire. They also take orders for bridal bouquets, headbands and corsage.
Her creative talents won her numerous state level awards in natural flower arrangement competitions organized by the Social Welfare Department, Department of Women Development and in the widely acclaimed Hornbill festival.
