In remembrance of Christ’s resurrection from the grave, devoted Christians from all walks of life congregated for a special sunrise service termed, ‘He Has Risen,’ at the Old Naga Cemetry, Dimapur. The service was organised by the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD), Watsu Telongjem & Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA) on the morning of Sunday, April 17.
At the service, Meren Nokpu, President of ASTD gave the welcome address, thanking all those who took the time and effort to come for the programme. He also appreciated the area council members of Lake View colony without which he said, “The programme wouldn’t have gone on.”
Rev Vitoshe Swu, President of Dimpaur Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship and senior pastor of Dimpur Sumi Baptist Church commended the efforts of ASTD, Watsu Telongjem and DABA for organising the sunrise service for all the dedicated believers. Furthermore he spoke about the contributions made by the Ao tribe for the Naga people,“You have been leading our Naga society in so many areas and have been opening the eyes of so many Nagas since the dawn of Christianity in our hills,” he said.
The word of God was delivered by Imnatoshi Longkumer, President of Nagaland Baptist Pastor’s Union. He spoke at length about the significance of the first resurrection witnessed by two women at the tomb of Jesus, stating that it showed the importance that God put towards women in the entire faith. “The message for us this morning is, fear not and go tell to the world that Jesus has conquered death,” he stated.
He also reminded the members gathered at the site where their loved ones are buried that, “We see that you are seated once again with all the emotion of someone dear to you that have gone ahead of you. But remember that the dead shall rise again and will be together eternally with Christ because He lives.”
Earlier in the programme, praise and worship was led by the youths of 'DABA Ola' while various hymns and special numbers were also performed exalting God’s love.
