FGN mourns demise of former Commander-in-Chief

Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): The office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) under the leadership of Zekope Kreo has on Monday expressed deep sadness over the demise of Pezangulie, former Commander-in-Chief of the Naga Army under the Federal Government of Nagaland, who passed away at a hospital in Dimapur on May 4.

He hailed from Chedema village and was the son of Ruokuolhou. He was serving as Major General and held Army No. 03924.

According to an official update, Pezangulie joined the National Defence Service on April 5, 1963, and went on to serve in various commands as a unit commander with dedication and loyalty.

During his service, he is stated to have endured several hardships and rose through the ranks from a soldier to the rank of Major General. He was also among those who took part in the Alee Command (Foreign Command) mission to Pakistan on foot to procure arms and ammunition.

He was a recipient of the Military Cross, the statement said.

Describing his death as a great loss, the FGN said the vacuum created by his demise would be difficult to fill, and his contributions would be remembered in Naga history.

In a condolence message, Commander-in-Chief Zekope Kreo conveyed sympathies to the bereaved family members and prayed for strength and comfort for them.
