FGN on extortions in Kohima & the need to ‘contribute’

Dimapur, June 30 (MExN): The FGN has taken exception that some miscreants are demanding and extorting money from different departments and offices in and around Kohima using the name of the organization and its letter pads.

Expressing regret and terming it as very “wrong and unwise” the FGN through Gaibon Panmei, Deputy Rali-Wali Kilonser stated that the FGN never uses threatening language or demand “unauthorized and unpracticed percentage” from any departments or commercial establishments in Kohima town.

However the FGN made what it stated was an “honest appeal” and requested all “to understand our common cause and the need of co-operation in striving to achieve our national goal and extend to bear national responsibility through contributing one’s valuable contribution in cash of kinds in the interest of Naga nation and its people”.

The FGN “therefore informs to all responsible and peace-loving citizens of Nagaland not to entertain or comply with such demand on threat, but should understand that such threatening note is an act of anti-social activists and money-extortionists”, it stated adding that “this is each of us duty and responsibility to jointly check such kind of anti-social activities.”
