FGN to oppose Prince Andrew’s visit

Dimapur, April 28 (MExN): The FGN today said it opposes the visit of Great Britain’s Prince Andrew to Nagaland scheduled for May 1. A note from the FGN appended as I Temjenba Lkr “kedallo” stated that Prince Andrew’s visit to Nagaland “to affirm that Nagaland is a part of India is therefore strongly opposed by the Federal Government of Nagaland.”

“Your coming to Nagaland to affirm that Nagaland is a part of India is therefore strongly opposed by the Federal Government of Nagaland. Please take note of our protest that your visit is not welcomed by the Naga nation,” the note said.  As the imperial power from 16th to the 20th century, the FGN said, “your government stated very clearly that the Nagas were not Indians and their country was not a part of India.”

However, the group’s note said, “your departure from your south Asian empire in 1947, your government dissected Naga country into two pieces and gave them as if presents to Burma (Myanmar) and India.  For the past sixty two years (1947–2012), our people have suffered the consequences of your betrayal in blood and tears of all these years.”
