
Standing Warrant issued against four absconders in Moangwati’s case

DIMAPUR : The sensational Dr Maongwati assassination attempt case which had drawn the attention of both the local media and public has now reportedly reached a crucial phase with the final judgment likely to be issued very soon. “Dr. Wati’s case is in full swing. The evidence of the five accused that were reportedly under custody is almost prepared and only the final conviction have to be issued” said Additional Public Prosecutor (APP), Khesheli Chishi.
Speaking to this reporter from The Morung Express the APP also disclosed that the Court had issued a ‘Standing Warrant’ against the other four absconders. When asked about the delay in between the proceedings of the case, Mrs. Chishi said that the Advocate’s Strike which was in action on the month of July was also one of the main reasons for adjourning the case.
Meanwhile, it may be mentioned that the four absconders who are believed to be crucial in the Dr. Wati’s case, are ranking officials of the NSCN (IM). According to an important source, the mentioned four NSCN (IM) cadres are covertly harbored in safety. The public on the other hand are in anticipation of the final verdict of the case. “Until and unless the four absconding accused comes out in the open and surrender, the case will remain unsettled. The responsible organizations involved in protecting the accused should realize the criminality of the matter”, said a respected citizen of the State who refused to be identified.
Speaking to the Assistant Public Prosecutor, Ajunba Imchen, regarding the attempted murder case, he pointed out that a public opinion poll could be the most reliable source needed at this juncture. “Through the opinion polls there will a wider reach of the public and this might result in a more positive and larger response”, he said adding that the public voice can also support the verdict of the case
