Stories of Love, Peace and Faith. That is the spirit of Christmas. Gifts of Confetti, Cakes and Chocolates. That is the gratitude of Christmas. It is here, it is finally Christmas time! Christmas means many different things to different people. But the magic of Christmas in undeniable to everyone. However, in the jumble of life, sometimes we forget the real meaning of Christmas and we forget to feel the love while decorating our houses, singing carols at the top of our voices and spend time with the people who really matter- family! The Morung Express asked around what Christmas signifies. Here are the answers:
What Does Christmas Mean to You?
Zubeno Mozhui (Director of Hope Centre for Excellence): For me it is the time for celebration of the birth of Christ and should be a season of Rest, Peace and Joy.
Wabang Longchari (Director of Sinai Ministry): Christmas means a lot to me after I met Jesus personally…it is about being thankful and a reminder to give my heart to God just as He has given His son for me…
Alobo Naga (front man of Alobo Naga and The Band): To me it is the time to come together with family, have fun with loved ones, and renew our relationship with loved ones.
Rupak Chetri: All know that, Christmas is the celebration of Birth of Lord Jesus, who rendered his life for good towards evil. For me Christmas has a significant role to exchange love, friendship etc , to one another in spite of caste , creed and religion . I reflect the examples of the Robust Network Dimapur, who organized the Christmas Cake Race, for the tri- Cycle (Rickshaw Puller) always they faced hurdlers in life, but on the eve, I found happiness in one another is not the role of true Christian feelings towards others. Spread love, Happiness and peace this is what I can give in Christmas.
Satemren Walling: Parties, drinking, firecrackers, accidents, et al. I guess that is what Christmas means to most people. This is the time when the devil gets most busy, totally manipulating us with cleaning, decorating, cooking, baking, shopping, hosting,... the list goes on. Instead of preparing for the coming of Christ, we prepare for I do not know what! Which house has the best decor, which one has the best lighting, which house gives d best party....
Instead of white, merry & bright, we are making Christmas dark, dreary & dull. I’m no saint here and I keep falling a lot but this kept ringing in my head,
“A tiny babe lying in a manger, destined for the cross
To give his life for u and me, and to redeem the lost”
This is Christmas!
I hope we all remember that Love came down on Christmas.
Marlyn Hangsing: I feel Christmas is a time to “give” in every sense.
Rampmaz Fmaz: The love of Christ in my life!
Meren Sang: To share my joy to everyone around and expect the same from them.
