A fire incident was reported at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, the site of the annual Hornbill Festival, early Wednesday morning.

Upon receiving a fire call at 4:55 am in the morning, firemen along with one fire tender were sent to the site. The incident had been reported by officials from the Tourism department.

Ahead of the annual Hornbill Festival beginning December 1, heavy preparations are ongoing in setting up Morungs, stalls and other event locations.

In this regard, old discarded materials and debris in the Heritage Village had been piled up at the dumping area.

The incident as such, occurred while burning the debris from the area in a bid to dispose the wastes, the official added.

Due to easy access for the fire tenders, the department officials informed the fire was swiftly brought under control from spreading to other areas and no casualty was reported.
