Dimapur, June 12 (MExN): In a bid to meet the demands of the present generation, the Youth Life Moulding- Institute of Technology & Management, Dimapur, the first B-school in Nagaland has disclosed that it has future plans to introduce career oriented programs such as Information & Computer Technology, Banking & e-commerce, entrepreneurial development program, MBA , hospitality management, Human Resource Management and as such.
The institute was established in 2006 under the banner of the NGO - Youth Life Moulding Centre (YLMC). Although in a growing stage, the YLM-ITM presently offers six semester programme on Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) under Nagaland University. This year will be the 7th batch for BBA programme. The institute’s objective is not only to excel its students academically but also professionally.
Alumni of YLM-ITM have made a career in the corporate sectors, especially in banks and insurance companies. Interestingly for some turn out to be outstanding employees in the civil services, while some have set up their own businesses. The graduation certificate awarded by Nagaland University also equally entitles a BBA graduate to seek a career in the civil administration service. Recent trends have shown that most successful candidates in the civil services have a background in management studies.
The YLM-ITM BBA course is designed to provide management education to undergraduates with the orientation towards the middle-level management career and give them the competitive edge when looking for a job or higher study programs like MBA. This programme under Nagaland University has been conceptualized and approved by experts from diversified fields. At present, it is under the supervision of its Academic Dean Akum Jamir.
How the B-school venture started
Despite the demand for professional courses in the state there was no institute providing such programmes, which made most students to venture out of the state to pursue their dreams. However, like an answered prayer, in 2004, Nagaland University finally introduced professional study programme.
In the meantime, the founder and chairman of YLMC Imti John saw need of a B-school in Nagaland and simultaneously in 2006 Youth Life Moulding- Institute of Technology & Management was established. Clubbed with supreme sincerity, hardships, determination, and an untiring efforts, Mr. Imti John in close collaboration with forward thinking individuals and subject experts has chosen to bring forth a transformation in the field of professional education in Nagaland.
Making of a professional
Unlike the traditional classroom environment, YLM-ITM learning pedagogy has classroom session and interactive session. Learning is imparted in the form of discussion forums, customized and modern study materials assisted by access to a well stacked library making learning fun, easy and enjoyable process for each student.
YLM-ITM also makes sure that the students are exposed to business environment to ensure that students are relevant and valued by individuals and organizations, nationally and internationally. Guest faculties are invited from corporate sectors for lecture, career counselling, interactive method of teaching - group projects and independent research, assignments & papers presentation, lecturers and group discussions etc.
Making the atmosphere more comfortable for students, YLM-ITM has airy and spacious classrooms and modern computer lab, well-furnished and spacious hostel facility for boys and girls etc.
