Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): Eden Higher Secondary School, Dimapur conducted the fourth edition of its ‘Interview of the Month’ programme on November 14 with P Leonard Aier, the first Naga Pilot Officer of the Indian Air Force and a retired principal.
More than two hundred students and teachers attended the interactive session, moderated by Dr M L Ngullie, Chairman of the School Management Board at the School Chapel Hall, stated a DIPR report.
Sharing his life's journey, Aier recounted facing discrimination growing up but overcoming challenges to excel academically. He studied at Don Bosco School, Guwahati, and Sainik School before clearing the National Defence Academy examination. He later joined the Indian Air Force and passed out with distinction, becoming the first Naga Operational Fighter Pilot in 1973.
He encouraged students to “always ask questions in life to gain the right answers” and advised teachers to understand the needs of students and guide them accordingly.
The main aim of the programme was to give students first-hand exposure to inspiring personalities and to motivate teachers through the life experiences of the interviewees. It also sought to provide valuable lessons drawn from the rich professional journey of the resource person.
This was the third such interview held this year, following sessions with the Dimapur Municipal Council CEO and the Deputy Commissioner
The School Management intends to continue such programmes regularly, it stated.
