Dimapur, August 24 (MExN): The five apex tribe bodies of Nagaland- Angami Public Organization, Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho, Rengma Hoho, and Sumi Hoho will not attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Governor of Nagaland scheduled on August 25.
A statement issued by 5 Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) on August 24 inacknowledged receipt of the official invitation but cited their August 9, 2025 resolution as the basis for abstaining.
“With our 9th August 2025 Resolution in force, we regret the inability to attend the Ceremony as the State Government continues to ignore our legitimate demands despite repeated reminders,” it added.
On August 9, the CoRRP had passed a resolution outlining their collective demands to the State Government, cautioning of non-cooperation in official functions if these were not addressed.
Among others, the current boycoot related to its rejection of Nagaland Government’s decision to include members of civil society organisations (CSOs) in the newly constituted Reservation Review Commission.
The Committee was formed earlier this year to coordinate a common position on reviewing Nagaland’s reservation policy, which it argues needs reform to ensure fairness and transparency.
Since May, the CoRRP has been organising democratic agitations to press its demand.
