
Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): Dimapur Police have arrested five persons for allegedly abducting three non-local individuals and demanding a ransom of Rs 2 lakh, and in a separate operation.
According to a press note issued by the office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, the abduction took place on the night of August 10 in the Purana Bazaar area. “The abductors had abducted 3 (three) non-local individuals on the night of 10/08/2025 with a demand ransom of Rs. 2 lakhs. On receipt of the information, Dimapur Police swiftly and efficiently intervened and rescued the victims and also arrested 5 (five) individuals suspected to be involved in the crime,” it stated.
The arrests were made on August 11. Police said a case has been registered and investigation is underway.
NSCN (R) cadre held with arms
In another operation, carried out in view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations and following intelligence inputs on the presence of armed cadres, searches were conducted in and around Dimapur. “One person namely, Toka Sumi, Dy. Kilonser NSCN-R (Wangtin) was arrested from Nagarjan-Phaipijiang area along with 01 (one) illegal pistol and 10 (ten) Nos of live ammunitions,” the press note said.
A case has also been registered in connection with the arms recovery and investigation is in progress, police added.
