FNR appeals to Naga national governments

Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has appealed to the Naga national governments to “restrain their respective cadres and all ranks and files from further involvement” in the ensuing Nagaland State assembly polls due on February 23. The FNR has reached out to the signatories of the Covenant of Reconciliation and the Naga Concordant based on reports of their involvement in the upcoming polls.

The FNR has made this appeal ‘recognizing that the Naga Reconciliation has not fully accomplished the Journey of Common Hope’, although it has led to the cessation of violence. The Forum also pointed out that the Naga Public is aware that the signatories of the Naga Concordant have agreed to deter from involving in the said elections.

It hoped that leaders of the Naga national movement will recognize and acknowledge in deed and gesture that “we are hopefully entering the threshold of an amicable and meaningful reconciliation which will inevitably need the goodwill, support and co-operation of all Naga people, regardless of their social and political identities.”
