FOCUS Nagaland distributes seeds to project villages in Longleng

Longleng, March 31 (MExN): Fostering Climate Resilient Upland Farming System in Northeast-Nagaland (FOCUS Nagaland), an externally aided project funded by IFAD, distributed Kharif seeds to the project villages under Longleng district on March 29.

A DIPR report stated that S Yongchang Phom, DAO & DPM of FOCUS-IFAD, appreciated the farmers for good outcome and also encouraged the farmers to work more sincerely and implement the activities with full seriousness to ensure that the farmers get full benefits from the project.

Further, DAO & DPM stated, despite the Pandemic last year, FOCUS was able to provide seeds during the Kharif season in April 2020 which has earmarked for their self-consumption, aided in distributing the products to nearby villages and markets during the nationwide lockdown.

Package of Practice on the Kharif seeds were given to the Lead farmers, who received the allotted quantity on behalf of the villages and were also informed to ensure that the allotted quantity should reach out to all the interested beneficiaries from the FIGs.

The distribution programme was held at District Agriculture Officer (DAO) office Longleng.
