Focus on issue, not persons – Therie to NPF

Dimapur, March 11 (MExN): Congress leader K Therie today said the Naga People’s Front (NPF) ought to start concentrating on specific issues that are raised and not ‘dig into failures’ of those who issue statements of criticism. The former NPF Finance Minister expressed unhappiness today that every time issues of concern in governance are raised, the NPF diverts its response to the personal individual.

“Politics should be played with the highest decency and in total fairness. I think NPF Media cell should be more decent. I have not issued the statement in my interest but have stated the fact and the trend,” Therie said responding to the way the NPF have reacted to his statements. “Nagaland belongs to all and every citizen has the right to express concern.”

The Congress leader referred to “the ENPO issue” as an example to illustrate the NPF’s nature of responding. Instead of addressing the issues raised by the ENPO, and correcting what has gone wrong and what is likely to go wrong, “trying to dig at my failures, which I have gracefully and humbly accepted, exposes their bitter hatred mindset.”

Rejoinders are expected to discuss issues, Therie said. “I don’t know why they have ignored the issue and as always attempted to divert attention. It is a matter of great concern to think of the seriousness of NPF leaders on issues.” The Congress leader says that “talking about my failures will not save ENPO or disintegration of Nagaland” The NPF has ignored the demand of ENPO for a separate state and the NPF-led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland is responsible to addressing complaints of injustice, he said.

“Whether I am out of touch or in touch with people is my liberty, please don’t interfere.”
