Some of those who voted State Government had this to say:
• I will say State Government because they control the finance and the security. Dont be fooled into thinking its the tribe organisation or the church. Its the state government and they have used their power with great affect on the people.
• The State Government is the most in power since they are the elected representatives of the people and voted to power by the people including the Tribal organisations, Churches and others. As representatives they are to uphold the law of the land according to the constitution and no organisation or group should be allowed to write their own law as long as there is a state government.
• You know how they are mightier and conceal their corruption right under the nose of our people and we stand there helpless knowing that we'd been fooling then, now and forever!!!
• It is the state government. Both tribe organisation leaders and church leaders go to politicians and bureaucrats for favors and for financial assistance. Come on lets call a spade a spade. How many of the tribal organizations are using boleros and scorpios and dusters that have been financed by politicians?
• Because NPF party is the Government instead of a government being formed by the party. The party is running along the lines of JUNTA. Democracy has lost its meaning in the context of Nagaland. The rest of the institutions are just puppets in the hands of the ruling party with no real say in the governance of the state whatsoever.
Some of those who voted Tribe Organisation had this to say:
• Because this is the only weapon we have. We are becoming more conscious and proud of our tribal traditions, more so when we face discriminations in all level in mainland India. It is time to recognise by Indianised politicians and americanised theologians that tribal culture is deep rooted and make policies as per sensitivity of tribal culture. all over the world more people are going back to their roots. This is the only protection we have
• Tribal organisation can be the most powerful only if they respect the villages instead of trying to impose their power over them.
Some of those who voted Church had this to say:
• If the church considers themselves to be the shepherd, than would that not make them the most powerful?
• Majority of the people are congregation members of the churches. The church is in the best position to influence and educate the people.
Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
• In this time of confusion and confrontation, this question is very apt. People are confused whether it is the State government that is in control or whether the tribe organizations are more powerful. No one seems to know and this is the crust of the issue in our state. Every tom, dick and harry claims to be the one in power. The rule of law is completely in disarray.
• I don’t think the State government or the tribe organizations or the churches are in control. Of course, being Nagas, they would like to think they are all powerful. I think the faceless and nameless businessman from outside Nagaland are the real people in control. These crorepattis are holding the remote control and they make our politicians and ngos dance to their tune.
• The Constitution of India. The terrible cocktail of Art 243T and Art 371A is giving us a new headache. But the utter inability to listen to one another remains the source of all the problems.
• Come on, who are we kidding. The Government of India is the most powerful. They are the ones that is fueling the problems and they are also feeding the state government to take care of the problem. We Nagas are foolishly fighting among ourselves.
• Money Power
• Naga National Political Groups
• Others...I can't name because there are so many..
• OTHERS : a group of one or more person with die heart Attitude plays most powerful role.
• NSCN
• Why is the obviously known OTHER not mentioned in the poll category. You have hidden the answer to the question.
• Others because the GoN is a failure, The hohos are losing credibility due to too many diktats and the Church for toeing to the powerful. So nature abhors a vacuum and others come in. And not only NPG's but rich business non Nagas interests and of course the huge population of ibi's.
• The Naga political groups are the most powerful. Even though they are divided by factionalism, they are the only ones that can actually unite the people.
• Other. State government has financial power but instead of development, legislators immorally think that they have power to loot the public fund. Tribal organizations consider they have the power to threaten their members for any reason and office bearers never think they are social workers, they only assume their works as public leader. Church organization unfortunately think they have the power to dictate the society they hardly think of winning more souls than multiplying members and exchequers. I strongly believe a movement like ACAUT can evoke the society and heal Nagaland from corruption, high-handedness and fanaticism.
