Commissioner & Secretary, Y Kikheto Sema, IAS being accorded a welcome upon arrival at Lazami village on Saturday.
Dimapur, December 22 (MExN): Commissioner & Secretary, Y Kikheto Sema, IAS on Saturday called for forgiving each others’ misdeeds on a daily basis and not only during celebration of jubilees or other occasions.
A press statement received here stated that he was speaking at the combined celebration of Laza Khuluqa Youth Organization silver jubilee and 50 years celebration of establishment of Khuluqa colony at Lazami village.
Kikheto said after every 25 years jubilees are celebrated and only during such occasion people talk about forgiving each other’s mistakes. “But why do we forgive only after 25 years, let every day be a jubilee and forgive one another of any misdeeds,” he added.
He urged the gathering to acknowledge the contribution of the pioneers and also to introspect both the positive and negative aspects of the years gone by. He called upon the gathering to cherish the past and claim the future. Kikheto reminded that the state government had banned celebration of jubilees by the departments taking into account the amount of resources that could go wasted. “Our society celebrates various occasions and especially during jubilees lot of resources are spent. Sometimes, argument/quarrels erupt after such celebration for reasons best known to those people thereby instead of receiving blessings from God we quarrel among ourselves,” he pointed out.
Quoting Psalm 133, Kikheto called for the people to live in unity and treat each other as brothers even though they could be from different communities. He said Lazami have brothers in Touphema and that the fact cannot be denied by the two villages and added such similarity can be found in Gariphema too. “It is time for the Nagas to come together with a common voice,” he said.
He encouraged the youngsters to be SMART if they wanted to achieve their goals adding SMART stands for Specific goal, Measurable and tangible, Achievable, Relevant or Realistic and Time bound. Kikheto also encouraged them to be hardworking and humble.
Talking about his own testimony of how a village boy could reach his current position, Kikheto attributed it to ceaseless prayers of his parents and the hard work and determination he put in.
A host of Sumi officers and public leaders accompanied the official. Earlier, Kikheto unveiled the jubilee monolith.
During the programme, Tokiho Jubilee Convenor delivered the welcome address while chairman of Lazami Village council, Saluvi delivered greetings.
