Former MLA Mhao Humtsoe laid to rest

Former MLA Mhao Humtsoe (84 years) passed away on April 19, 2024, at 4:12 PM, at his residence in Wokha town. Born on October 10, 1939, in Longsa Village, under Wokha District, Late Mhao Humtsoe served as a dedicated representative of the people. He was elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 1974 and 1982 from the 38th Wokha A/C. Additionally, he served as the Chairman of Lotha Hoho from 2014 to 2018.

His funeral service was held today, April 20 at 10: 30 am at his residence at GA colony, Wokha Town.

Former MLA Mhao Humtsoe is the first graduate from his village. He completed his matriculation from High School Wokha in 1963. He pursued his PU studies in Commerce at Shillong College, Meghalaya and completed in 1964. Following this, he graduated from Scottish Church College, Calcutta University, in 1969. Continuing his academic journey, he pursued BA/LLA studies at Dibrugarh.

Former MLA Mhao Humtsoe held several significant leadership positions throughout his life. He was the first Student Leader of Longsa Village in 1958 and served as the first chairman of Wokha Town Baptist Church Youth Fellowship in 1960. Additionally, he played a vital role as the General Secretary of the Naga Students' Union Calcutta in 1967, the Chairman of PAC and NKVIB, a founding member of Christian Medical Centre (CMC) Vankhosang (1984), Naga Hoho Regional Secretary ( 2001- 2003) and many more.

His commitment to leadership and service left a lasting impact on his community and beyond.
