Mokokchung, November 14 (DIPR): At the time when issues relating to disabled persons receives due importance worldwide and legislations by governments are being framed for the welfare of those, what we called, special people, a Forum for Special people has been launched at Mokokchung aiming at ‘providing a helping hand to the growth and development of people with disabilities’ in Mokokchung district.
The forum under the NGO “Care and support society” was formed in March 16, 2011 by parents of special children and well-wishers. Since then, the forum is engaging in various activities to help those people. The need to have such a forum in the district was discussed in the Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board meeting in August 2011. Care and Support Society is one of the NGOs in Mokokchung district actively engaged in fighting against HIV/Aids.
According to Lanunechet, Co-ordinator, Forum for Special People, a two day meet for special people will be held on 2nd and 3rd December 2011 where number of events such as drawing competition, Art, flower making and sports for them will be organized. The forum will also observed world Disabled Day on 3rd December.
