Peren, December 15 (MExN): Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, CM Chang formally unveiled foundation stone of Forest Range Office at Tening under Peren district on December 13.
CM Chang addressing the occasion recalled that in the year 1982-83 as civil officer posted in Tening there was hardly any development. He also lamented the vanishing of birds and wild animal. The land is fertile but people are not hard working, he said. Chang appealed to all to cooperate with the government for more development in their area. The range forest of Tening was launched with Japanese aide. Germany and Korea projects are also in the pipeline, Minister said.
Advisor for Water Resource Development, Namri Nchang said that development will come and people have to utilize it for their benefit. He also cautioned on pollutions of the air and soil and called upon all to conserve nature. MLA also appealed to the church leaders to take initiative for conservation of forest. Schemes for various developments would come in the near future and SDEO office will be inaugurated very shortly, he added.
Conservator of Forest (STC) Nagaland, Dr. Kenei IFS highlighted the Japanese ICA project on “A Boon to Tribal Livelihood.” Dr Kenei said that the land is blessed with nature and appealed to the people for forest conservation.
Divisional Forest Officer, Peren, Dr. Sentitula, IFS said it was the red letter day for Tening and appealed to the people to join hands for conservation of wildlife. Range Officer, Namsibo chaired the programme.
