Founder of Nagaland GBs Federation no more

Kohima, April 25 (MExN): A senior citizen of Dimapur and head G.B and Chairman of Industrial Village Razhuphe, TL Angami passed away at Guwahati on April 24. TL Angami was the founder of Nagaland GBs Federation. Several individuals and organizations have conveyed condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. 

CM: The Chief Minister of Nagaland in a press release said that TL Angami was the founder of GBs Federation of Nagaland and he served as a president of the organisation for several years. He also served as the Vice President of Angami Public Organisation. 

The CM remembered him as an outspoken man, who was not afraid to express his opinions and was someone who selflessly worked for the welfare of people. “Indeed, his demise is a great loss to the Naga society and the vacuum created will be difficult to fill. Though he is no longer with us his selfless deeds will always be remembered and the legacy he leaves behind will be honoured,” the Cm added. 

Th Muivah: The NSCN (IM) General Secretary Th Muivah expressed shock on the demise of TL Angami. He stated in a press release that TL Angami was born to VT Angami  on February 7, 1944 and hailed from Zhadima village under Angami Region. TL Angami was also the founder of Industrial village Razaphe and Mengu village.

“He always stood firm on the Naga unity and the integration of all the Naga areas and was there whenever the Naga people needed him the most. His integrity and the spirit to serve the Naga people shall always be remembered. He left behind a legacy which will inspire the generations to come,” he conveyed. 

Nagaland GB Federation: The Nagaland GB Federation recollected TL Angami as a prominent leader of GBs and the founder of Nagaland GB Federation.  He was the President of NGBF from 1984 to 2000. The NGBF had celebrated 25th year of its inception in 2009 under his convenership. 

“He was remembered for his manly character and known for his straightforward personality. In his demise, we have lost a respected leader and a good advisor who had contributed immensely for GB’s welfare,” the federation added. 

APO: The Angami Public Organization (APO) in its condolence message stated that TL Angami was a tall leader of the Angami community; he was pioneer and a public figure whose contributions has shaped and moulded the Naga Society distinctively. 

The APO stated that “TL Angami is attributed with the formation of Nagaland GB’s Federation as its founder, he have authored the book “Customary Law of the Angami Naga.” He also served as the President of Angami Public Organization from 2005-2008. TL Angami has dedicated his life in the servitude of the Naga tribe and his own communities though various capacities.”

With his demise the Angami Community and the Nagas in general have lost one of the most decorated and respected citizen of Nagaland; the immense contributions of TL Angami will be forever etched in the annals of Naga History, APO stated. 

TUD: The Tangkhul Union Dimapur (TUD) said that TL Angami “was not just a mere public leader, but a fearless and a straight forward man who had aggressively worked towards peaceful co-existence of all communities particularly living in Dimapur and committed his life towards this dream of Naga nationhood.”

In its press release, TUD wrote, “TL Angami’s life itself is a great inspiration to all of us. However, God has called him today and in his demise, the entire Naga family have lost great leader.”
