The Sachü Scholarship award programme 2026, an annual educational initiative aimed at supporting deserving students, was held on January 3 at the Kohima Village Council (KVC) hall.

The programme was organised by the Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) under the aegis of the Miraculum Society, Nagaland, marking the third consecutive year of the scholarship.

This year, four students from Kohima Village, representing the four khels, were awarded the Sachü Scholarship in recognition of their academic commitment and potential. The initiative aims to promote higher education, leadership and social responsibility among village youth.

Addressing the gathering, Vikuonuo Sachü, founder of the Miraculum Society, emphasised the transformative power of education in bringing about social change. She said the scholarship was born out of a personal commitment to give back to Kohima Village and to support students who aspire to pursue higher education despite financial constraints.

She informed that the scholarship was launched in 2024 and initially supported eight students over the first two years. The programme has since evolved into an annual award, continuing its mission of empowering students from Kohima Village.

The scholarship has been instituted in honour of late Tuozo Sachü and late Neithonuo Sachü, whose values of education, perseverance and service continue to guide the initiative.

Sachü expressed gratitude to parents, student unions and community members for their continued support and encouraged the recipients to uphold the trust placed in them by the community.

Speaking on the occasion, president of Kewhimiapfü Mechü Krotho (KMK), Khrieneinuo Pienyu, congratulated the scholarship recipients and urged them to remain focused on their academic goals.

She also commended the Miraculum Society for its consistent contribution towards student welfare and community development.

The programme was chaired by KVSU president Khriesaneikuo Kire, while Neisier Lieziestu, chaplain of Khedi Baptist Higher Secondary School, invoked God’s blessings. A special number was presented by Mhaphrunuo Rutsa.
