Kohima, April 19 (MExN): The framing of the State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC) was initiated by the government of Nagaland in 2009. In the SAPCC, eight vulnerable sectors viz-energy, urban planning, water resources, livelihoods/ Sustaining mountain Eco- systems, forestry, agriculture, climate change studies and Health, were identified for the state.
An equal number of sectoral working Groups were constituted comprising of twenty five (25) Governments and one State Mission. External Experts/ Consultants were engaged to assist in the framing of the sectoral documents of the SAPCC. After a series of iterative discussions with the sectoral working group members and stakeholders consultations in the form of field validation visits, the final Sectoral draft papers have been submitted.
The papers have been broadly structured with an overview of the sector, identification of state specific issues of concern, analysis of these concerns basing on the climate change projection made by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore to identify key climate change concerns and suggest adaptive strategies to address these concerns.
The final process is the synthesis of the sectoral papers into a single document which will then be presented before the State Level Steering Committee. The final draft papers have been uploaded papers may kindly be studied and relevant comments if any may be sent to the following address, sapccngld@gmail.com on or before April 24.
