Free animal vaccination and treatment

Dimapur, January 17 (MExN): Commemorating the golden jubilee celebration of Animal Welfare Fortnight, District Veterinary & AH Office and Veterinary Hospital, Dimapur have scheduled different activities from January 14 to 30.

In a press statement, Dr. Temsu Ozukum, District Veterinary and AH Officer informed that following activities will be organized in order to highlight animal welfare issues: Treatment camp by providing medicines free of cost along with health care services at Veterinary Hospital Complex, Burma Camp, Dimapur from January 15 to 18; Anti-rabies camp at Veterinary Hospital Complex, Burma Camp, Dimapur on January 20; Mass vaccination of pigs against swine fever and cattle against FMD and Brucellosis at Niuland Block, Dhansiripar Block, Kuhuboto Block on January 21, 22, 23 respectively; Free treatment camp in Medziphema Block, Dimapur urban and semi urban areas and on January 24, 25 and 26 respectively.

The closing function to create a platform, as the note said, for interested animal lovers/ animal welfare activists to constitute Prevention of Cruelty of Animal (PCA) and reorganize the Animal Welfare Society if need be will be held at DC conference hall on January 30.

The note stated that office personnel have been detailed to reach out to the villages and co-ordinate with the village authorities in order to streamline and ensure service delivery. Therefore, all the villages concerned have been asked to avail the service packages free of cost. Interested livestock owners may contact the officials concerned by calling 9436006696, 9436830159.

Meanwhile, the note also informed that there will be a free anti-rabies vaccination at Veterinary Hospital, Burma Camp, Dimapur on January 20 from 9:00 am. It will be held on first come first basis, it said. The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur will be the chief guest at the one-day anti rabies vaccination campaign.
