WOKHA, NOVEMBER 14 (MExN): Free anti-rabies vaccination under the Assistance to States for Control of Animal Diseases (ASCAD) 2024-25 was conducted by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Wokha.
A district-level awareness programme was held at Hayiyan village under Bhandari sub-division on November 13 and at Merapani village on November 14.
The awareness session on “Disease Economic Emergency and Zoonotic Importance” under ASCAD 2024-25, implemented during 2025-26, featured Dr Kikali G Sumi, VAS Merapani, as the resource person.
She highlighted the importance of regular vaccination to protect livestock, reduce economic losses for farmers, and ensure early reporting of diseases to authorities. She also emphasised the need to control African Swine Fever (ASF).
A total of 18 farmers participated in the programme. Basic veterinary aids were distributed, and free anti-rabies vaccination was administered. Altogether, 42 pets were vaccinated.
