Dimapur, April 19 (MExN): A free cataract and IOL implantation eye camp was successfully conducted from March 28 to 31 at the District Hospital Phek which was organized by District Health Society Phek under the National Programme for Control of Blindness.
Villagers from in and around Phek availed the free treatment, where a total of 25 major cataract operations with IOL implantation and 17 minor cases were performed.
Altogether 228 outdoor patients were treated whereby providing them with free medicines, informed a press note received here issued by Dr Imnapokim, District Nodal Officer, District Hospital Phek.
The press note also stated that Dr Imnapokim, eye surgeon Phek performed the operation and was assisted by Lelhu Opthalmic Assistant from DHS Kohima and Asalu, Opthalmic Assistant and nurses from District Hospital Phek.
The District Health Society Phek, would like to especially thank Dr Tia MS, District Hospital Phek for all necessary arrangements and assistance provided, without which the Camp would not have been possible, stated the note.
