
LONGLENG, October 13 (MExN): A free cataract surgery eye camp conducted at the District Hospital here from October 6 to 11 proved to be a significant success, with 45 surgeries performed and hundreds screened.
The camp was organised by the National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, in collaboration with the Longleng Town Baptist Church as part of its 75th Jubilee celebrations.
According to a DIPR report, a total of 241 patients were examined during the camp. In addition to the cataract surgeries, 20 presbyopia glasses were distributed to patients in need.
The initiative aimed to provide free eye care services to the people of Longleng district and nearby areas, raising awareness about avoidable blindness and ensuring accessible treatment for all sections of society.
The camp was held under the supervision of Dr E Phyantsuthung, State Programme Officer (NPCB&VI), and involved a team of medical officers and supporting staff from various health facilities across the state.
Dr Phyantsuthung expressed appreciation to the Longleng Town Baptist Church for their collaboration and support and acknowledged all the officers and staff who rendered their services during the camp.
