Freight figures continue to rise

Maligaon, October 10 (MExN): Freight figures of the Indian Railways has continued showing higher trajectory compared to last year in terms of earnings and loading in the first week of October. According to a press release from Northeast Frontier railway (NFR) CPRO Subhanan Chanda, till October 8, Indian Railways loading was 26.14 million tonnes which is 18% higher compare to last year’s loading for the same period (22.1 million tonnes). During this period Indian Railways earned Rs 2477.07 crore from freight loading which is also Rs 250.71 crore more than last year’s earnings for the same period (Rs 2226.36 crore). The release informed that a number of concessions/ discounts are also being given in Indian Railways to make Railways Freight movement attractive. Facilities for loading / un-loading of goods have been improved in all goods sidings. It also added that improvements in freight movements will be institutionalized and incorporated in the upcoming zero-based time table.
