KOHIMA, AUGUST 3 (MExN): The Catechism Teachers of St. Francis De Sales (SFS) Parish, Kohima, on Sunday organised a “Friendship Sunday cum Competition” for catechism children, marked by creative and engaging activities.

Held on the first Sunday of the month, the event was themed around the values of friendship and community, with the children singing “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” to set the tone for the day. The five-hour programme was chaired by Christina Khrez and featured events such as a drawing competition on the theme “Friendship” and a fancy dress competition. The judges for the competitions were Silvia and Angelina.

A prayer was led by Rev. Fr. C. Joseph, Counsellor, St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, followed by a short speech by Amy Mera. The programme encouraged children to reflect on the importance of friendships, promoting emotional bonding and connection through shared experiences.

Organisers said the event also served as a reminder to reconnect with old friends, repair strained relationships, and support each other’s mental well-being by fostering meaningful connections.
The efforts of the catechism teachers, along with Rev. Sisters Rincy and Lily of the M.S.M.H.C congregation, contributed to making Friendship Sunday a memorable occasion for all participants.
