DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 18 (MExN): The funeral service of Late GK Rengma, Retired Additional Director General of Police (IPS) and one of the eminent officers from the Rengma tribe, will be held on December 19 at 8:00 am at his residence near Golden Jubilee Tower, Thahekhu Village.
Following the service, his mortal remains will be taken to his native village Phenshünyu for burial.
Born on January 12, 1950, late Rengma completed his early education at Tseminyu, pursued higher studies in Shillong, and earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Delhi University. He joined government service as Deputy Superintendent of Police on September 12, 1974, and was inducted into the Indian Police Service on January 18, 1989. He rose to the rank of Additional Director General of Police on September 8, 2008, before retiring on January 31, 2010.
Known for his discipline and exemplary service, late GK Rengma inspired many youth from the community to pursue careers in civil services. His demise is mourned as a significant loss by his family, the Rengma community, and society at large. The bereaved family has expressed gratitude for the prayers, condolences, and support received during this difficult time.
