Gang rape condemned

Dimapur, January 17 (MExN): Lotha Ekhung (Union) Bor-Lengri Block No. II, Karbi Anglong has strongly condemned the alleged rape of a young girl on January 12 in Dimapur by three men, who were identified by police as Benathung Kikon, Yanthungo Odyuo and Wobenthung Ngullie. The Union in a condemnation note stated that the crime committed by the three accused was “too barbaric and unacceptable.” Therefore, it appealed the law enforcing agency to award them an exemplary punishment so such things do not happen in the society.

Residents of  Orchid Colony
Residents of Orchid Colony, Bor-Lengri have also vehemently condemned the January 12 gang rape. A press note from the Chairman and General Secretary of Orchid Colony, Bor-Lengri informed that two of the accused, Yanthungo Odyuo and Wobenthung Ngullie, who are permanent residents of the colony, have been expelled with immediate effect. The third accused, Benathung Kikon, has been prohibited from residing or entering the colony. The public of Orchid Colony has appealed to all citizens to come forward and condemn such acts. It further requested the administration to expedite the case and award exemplary punishment to the culprits. The colony further requested other colonies not to accommodate “such evil minded persons in their area.”

LGB Bor-Lengri 2
The local Gaon Bura and the Nepali community of Bor-Lengri, Block No 2 have also condemned the alleged gang rape of a young girl on January 12 in Dimapur. Terming the act as “barbaric and inhuman,” a press note from the LGB, Bor-Lengri 2, Taliman Chetri demanded “capital punishment” to the culprits. He further lauded the police for arresting the accused persons promptly.
