GB's job is a voluntary service: Shalim Konyak

DDGBA forms new team

Dimapur, January 22 (MExN): President Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) Shalim Konyak said that GB's job is a voluntary service and GBs who work for the good of people should continue to lead the GB organization. Konyak was exhorting the gathering at the election of new team of office bearers for Dimapur District GB’s Association (DDGBA) for the tenure 2019- 2023 held at Nagaland Science Centre on January 22.

Konyak said that GBs must be united and work for the welfare of the Naga people. “Every GB should be accommodating so as to have oneness within the Naga society.” This was stated in a press release appended by DDGBA President Tokuho Suhoi Neho and Sessional Secretary W Kholie Kapfo.  

In his speech, General Secretary NGBF Shikuto Zhalipu said that DDGBA is not a tribal organization but an association of GBs from 8 administrative units irrespective of tribes. There should be greater understanding among the GBs to work for the whole community people, Zalipu added.

The GBs were selected by 25 executive members out of 37 members eligible for voting in the presence of old office bearers and Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) as observer.

The new team of office bearers is led by Khehovi Chophi, Head GB as President, Theyehuyi Veyie GB as Vice President, Hokishe Zhimomi GB as Joint Secretary, Rajalal Naiding GB Joint Secretary (Minority), Treasurer - G Karni GB, Publicity & Information Secretary - R Changkum GB (ENPO) and Convenor Judicial - Lhovishe Achumi GB.

The outgoing President Tokuho Suhoi Neho in his speech thanked the old executive members for their cooperation during his short period as President, and expressed hope that the new team shall do justice for the GBs of the district.

President elect Khehovi Chophi acknowledged the executives for nominating and electing him unopposed. He assured the executives that he will dedicate himself and work hard taking along a community of GBs from 8 administrative units. In this regard, Chophi hoped for cooperation from all the members. The outgoing Vice President W Kholie Kapfo gave the vote of thanks saying that GBs should be truthful so as to bring change in our Naga society.

The remaining vacant post will be filled up by the new team and handover taking over will be done on January 25, 10:00 am at DDGBA office 5th mile, Dimapur.
