Dimapur, January 25 (MExN): Gen. Rtd. VS Atem took an oath today as Member of the Collective Leadership, NSCN (IM). A Joint Council meeting held at CHQ, Hebron today in pursuance of the Joint Council meeting on November 26, 2015, and subsequent upon the Yaruiwo order of January 6, 2016, Gen. Rtd. V.S Atem took the oath as a Member, Collective Leadership, informed a press release from the MIP of the NSCN (IM) today. An Economics graduate from St. Anthony, Shillong, Gen. Rtd. VS Atem joined the Naga Army on September 6, 1973. From a humble beginning as a private in the Naga army he became the Chief of Army in 1989 till July 24, 1999. Gen. Atem served the Naga nation in various capacities as Kilo Kilonser, Kiya Kilonser, Chaplee Kilonser, Convenor Steering Committee and also an Emissary to the Collective Leadership. He is a prominent member to the ongoing Peace Talks between Government of India and NSCN (IM). The MIP also informed that 35 new Tatars were inducted, and two Dy. Kilonsers and one Steering Committee Member also took an oath of allegiance. The MIP, on behalf of the NSCN/GPRN, extended happiness and success to them.
