
DIMAPUR, APRIL 13 (MExN): The Headquarter 5 Sector AR under the aegis of IGAR (North) conducted a two day seminar on gender sensitization for officers from April 9 to 10. A press note informed that Shibangi Mookherjee, Consultant Trainer from Delhi; Rose Mary, Advisor to the Naga Mothers Association; Azi Therieh, Chief Judicial Magistrate & Secretary Legal Service Auth, Dimapur and Catherine Imtila, Director for Hero Mindmine Institute, Dimapur spoke on the conduct of Assam Rifles in Nagaland, the concerns of the women and their views for a better rapport amongst the Assam Rifles and the people of Nagaland.
The aim of the seminar cum workshop was to generate awareness among the security forces in understanding “women values and perception differences” in order to incorporate prophylactic and preventive measures in understanding the opposite gender. Interactive sessions between the speakers and participants covered topics like the AFSPA, recent bill passed by central government on atrocities against women and the induction of Mahila Battalion in Assam Rifles in the future. The seminar was organized to imbibe a feeling of respect and equality for women amongst men under command.
The press note stated that the seminar emerged as a platform for all the speakers and participants to put forward their views independently on the subject topic. A total of 25 participants from the IGAR (North) are attending the same.
