GHSS Mon agitates

Through this column we the students of Government Higher Secondary School Mon would like to share our grievances. In spite of the fact that there is only one lecturer per subject concerned, the Government has transferred 4 (four) lecturers at a time in the mid year without any reliever. The Principal expired in the month of May 2004 and has not been replaced till date.

Basing on that, we had given a petition addressing to the Secretary of Education Department, Nagaland Kohima on August 2, 2005. The copy of which was given to the Hon’ble Minister for School Education, Director of School Education, Deputy Commissioner Mon and the Konyak Students’ Union.

Again on August 20 we had given an ultimatum addressing to the DC, the copy of which was dispatched to the Department concerned and NGOs of Mon. it was on the account of the shortage of teaching staffs and the principal of GHSS Mon.

Not having received any response from the Government, we the students of GHSS with an agitating mood, approached the DC on 8th September, during which the Government gave us a verbal assurance that the demand will be fulfilled within two days i.e.9-10 of September. Having honored the word of the higher authority, we the students have relaxed the agitation process for 2 days. If the Government fails to fulfill their promise, then the agitation will continue from Monday (12th September) onwards. And the phase of the agitation process will be as follows:

1. Boycott of classes.

2. Picketing of DCs office, Mon.

3. Picketing of all Government Office, Mon.

4. Ban of the whole Mon District.

While the first phase is under process, we received the verbal assurance from the Government and have relaxed the agitation. During which we demand that, the encumbrance along with the order should come and join the duty, otherwise the phase of agitation will continue as it is.
